Of Note Taking

When we entered the upper grade kids, I rarely noticed them taking notes of our lesson. Perhaps they have super memory that works miraculously  🤔  By the way, things changed once we moved to the lower grades classes, especially the Third and Second graders. I noticed a few kids jotting down notes whever we got to their classes and more surprisingly some of them took it up the notch by decorating their notes with colours and illustrations. These two are the samples of the kids' handwritten notes during our lesson on numbers. # komtep2019

Of Class/Roles Assignment

As I mentioned before, the teachers' roles are very much depending on the admins' decision. So there is no exact rule of determining what role you'll get for the following year. Take this one teacher, for an example. In 2018, she was appointed as one of the English teacher at the school, however, for 2019, she had to be one of the 6th graders' homeroom teacher. So she had to teach ALL of the subjects offered to the Grade 6, EXCEPT English, PE and Sci ence. Another scenario involved another teacher who was once the Third Grader teacher, but now she is appointed to be the homeroom teacher for the fifth grader. Besides that, even though you're a subject teacher, school's nurse, the school's librarian or even the vice principal, you would still be assigned to be part of any grades. Of Relief Teacher (Second post)

As I shared before, most of the time, the teachers from any grades will be asked to relief classes for any of the absent homeroom teachers. However, in case of long term break, the school will appoint outsiders to temporarily fill in the class. In this picture, the actual homeroom teacher left the substitute teacher with a simple instructions in how things are in her class. # komtep2019

Of Skype

Today, we had a brief Skype session between 5-4 class of Sahwa Elementary school and the SK Putarajaya Presint 14(1) Aerodancers team. The session went so smooth! I loved the effort by my kids back in 14(1). They put on a kpop dance cover by Blackpink - Let's Kill This Love and guessed what? The Korean kids were loving it  😍 😍 😍  They were also surprised to see the beetle brought by the boys too since they never seen such beetle in the area. So well done, kids  👍🏻 👍🏻  Thank you, sister  Najlaa Fatin  and Mr Nizam for handling it well on the other end. My Korean mentor teacher kept complimenting the program and she was hoping for another sessions too! Perhaps this is the new beginning of relationship between 14(1) and Sahwa? Who knows  # komtep2019
