Of Vlive Heartbeat Award 2019

I NEVER went to any concerts in my entire life, let alone a Kpop concert. So, the moment my mentor teacher offered me a free ticket to 2019 Vlive Awards, my heart just dropped a beat! Initially, she bought the ticket because she wanted to see her favourite idol; X1 performance. However, the group somehow wouldn't be performing on that night. So, i guess, 'rezeki' for me then. And after giving a deep consideration, I decided to not let go of this golden opportunity and bought a train ticket to Seoul at 9:45a.m. from Changwon.  I don't know what has gotten into me but I was rather determined to be at Gocheok Sky Dome before 3p.m. So I just bought the train ticket (for less than 80,000krw return) even though I didn't have any proper seats for almost 3 hours! Luckily there was a little bit of space in that train so I could just sat on the floor while completing two of my final reports for this program. See! I even work in the midst of watching the...

Of Suneung

Day of reckoning As the weather got colder than usual, 14th November 2019 marked one of the annual event in South Korea;  수능 (Suneung).  What's the significance of this test? College Scholastic Ability Test  or  CSAT Well, lets just say that this is the SPM version of Korea, except that it is taken way more serious and involves participation of the whole nation. How so? Well, on this day, people would normally got to work 1-2 hours later, to give way to the pupils sitting for this university entrance exam. Not only that, even airplanes aren't allowed to operate during certain time of the day, to ensure the smoothness of the exam. Police officers, on the other hand, put aside their daily routine, by giving rides to any students who were late for the exam or even missed their IDs. The news covered the story from all angles; before and even after the test was taken. See! That's how this special day involved EVERYONE in this nation. By the way, you...

Of Seasonal Subject

Instead of having  8 subjects or more in total, the second graders here find learning less stressful as they only learn Korean, Mathematics, Chinese, Safety and Seasonal class. The one subject that I find very interesting is the Seasonal subject. This subject is actually a subject comprises of Arts, Music, Social Science, Physical Education and Moral. Why not call it multi subject instead? For starters, it's not that catchy enough, isn't it? Secondly, the textbooks used differ for each seasons. So, in a year, they will have four different textbooks for this subject; one for Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. In a day, they will either have single or double period for Seasonal subject. The second period is normally when they'll have the practical part of the lesson.

Of the School's Festival

Continuation from yesterday's post, Sahwa's school festival was held today from 09:30a.m. until 12:30p.m. (local time) today. The school field was filled with parents' cars! Not only that, something that was quite interesting to me was when parents were asked to put on shoes cover before entering the school compound. Such a rare sight! The gym decoration was rather minimal yet meaningful. Equipped with spotlights, and hanging microphones! The performa nces were recorded for the school's keepsake and references. Sadly, the fifth and sixth graders didn't get the chance to join the others at the gym because they had to perform in their own classes. Either way, the impact was just as phenomenal! The homeroom teachers really went all out in training the kids as well as decorating the classes (for the 5th and 6th graders). Leaflets on the tentative was either left on the chairs or in front of the class' doors.  Honestly, everything seemed very smooth and well t...
