For the elementary schools in Korea, there are two types of teachers. The first one is called the homeroom teacher. As the post is given at the end of the year based on principal's decision, this type of teacher entirely responsible for the pupils in his/her class. Not only that, he/she will be teaching most of the subjects to the pupils from the morning until when the school ends. Their office is also in the class itself as they do not need to leave the classroom. However, all of the homeroom teachers will have one grade teachers room for them to do discussion, making copies for the worksheets or even lounging.
Another type of teacher is called the subject teachers. Those appointed as subject teachers will only teach one or two subjects but for more than one class. The three subjects that require subject teachers in the school where I am posted to now are English, Science and Physical Education. As they are the nomads, they have one shared room outside of the classrooms. Instead of them going into the classrooms, the pupils will visit them at the respective classrooms instead (English classroom, Science lab or even the school gym).
Do you think this concept is doable in Malaysia, say in 10 or few more years ahead? Do leave your comment below 😬😬😬
